A substantial volume of tooth structure is lost in the endodontic treatment. The longevity of endodontically treated teeth is directly related to the quality and quantity of the remaining tooth structure. An endodontic post is often required to retain the buildup restoration in the radicular tooth structure over which a crown can be subsequently placed. Post placement also warrants loss of dentine from the canal walls. Clinicians use various fiber reinforced composite posts to minimize the loss of dentine from canal. The purpose of this study was to compare the mean remaining dentine thickness (RDT) of root canals prepared with Easy post and Rely-X fiber post drill systems in extracted human teeth.
